The Academy Awards (OSCAR) are given each year by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the best film award winners of the preceding year. The Academy Award is given each year for animation movies. An animated feature is defined by the Academy as a film longer than 40 min. the winner is voted from a shortlist of five films, and they must have been theatrically released in Los Angeles County.

1. Coco (2017)- The Pixar film was up against two well-received, 2-D animated small studio films. This got award for its heartfelt story and rich visuals. Coco also took home the Oscar for Best Original Song.

The compositions and lighting are more thoughtful than you tend to get in a 3-D animated film. The feature is special because big-eyed animals speak with the voices of celebrities.

4. Big Hero 6 (2014)- A superhero buddy movie around a lovable robot called Baymax. This movie is an experimental short, great in its visual style, visual effects and its narrative style, and with strong emotional core.
5. Frozen (2013)- Disney's beautifully animated 3D movie. Movie's ice and snow added as visual fields along the lines of prismatic crystals, epic storms but also fantastical structures built on frozen water's see-through art.
